Road to Maturity
July 17, 2010
(note) The book “Shift” has brought light on some things that are very important for me to walk in if I want to mature in the spirit. The Lord has been dealing with me about maturity. I am realizing how immature I really am and my prayer (more like desperation) is that I grow. But how can I mature? Do I pray more, read the word more, what? The book revealed that they did that but did not experience the freedom that they know God had for them. God began to reveal to them those things that molded the way they were from an early age to the present. Insecurities, resentments, unforgiveness, pride, etc. were ingrained in them and only revelation form the Holy Spirit and repentance will set us free. God has been revealing to me how immature I am in Spiritual things. This does not mean I know how immature I am but only that I am lacking very much in maturity. I am also becoming more aware that the only way to mature is through a revelation from God. We must first receive the truth of our condition before we can be delivered from those things stored up in us that keep us in bondage. Jer. 17:9 says “the heart is deceitful above all things….who can know it?”
Our family as well as our church family is there to shine light on those deceptions and we must surround ourselves with spiritually mature brothers and sisters who walk in humility and will reveal to us what they see. We must then be willing to embrace that truth to bring deliverance and freedom. We then grow in the spirit which brings life. The problem is that most of the time we see it as an attack against us instead of a revelation to our true hearts condition. Because of this we will continue to live in bondage to our flesh and never able to walk in all the blessings that God has for us. It is time for maturity, let's embrace the truth and move on in this journey.
WORDS FROM BILL'S JOURNAL
UNITY
July 24, 2010
God’s desire is for us to operate in unity. He shines light on this all through His word. (John 15:12,13) (Psalms 133)(Eph.4:2-6)(Matt 12:25)….His body, the church, is designed to do many things. It is strength to one another and should cause us to mature, to see through the eyes of Jesus. It should break down walls in the individual members. It should be a mirror to show our faults and shine light on individual weaknesses of our own so we can walk in truth, the truth of what is really the spirit and what is flesh. If we understand the true function of the body of Christ, we can be set free and be obedient so we can walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. Not only will we walk in the power of God, most of all we will know the God of that power.
We must always be on guard that we continue to walk in the Spirit. The scriptures will keep us there if we meditate on them. Galatians 5:22-26 list the fruit of the Spirit and warns us to be aware of envy and strife. We must understand that the results of seeing someone else’s faults is not to judge them, but to shine light on faults of our own that have been hidden to us. Thus, we allow the Holy Spirit to do the same with the one whom we saw our fault in. The flesh will want to focus on their fault instead of removing ours. If the fault is not ours, the flesh will have the tendency to judge theirs. This will still shine light on the immaturity in our walk and how fleshly we are unless we are deceived. If our reaction is not love it is of the flesh and selfish which is sin. SIN IS SELFISHNESS. Our prayer should be for that person to be free and should be from a heart of compassion. 1 Corinthians 13:4 gives us a good description of what love is and is not. WOW, I need to memorize that. I am getting more revelation of the power of unity in the body of Christ. We must pray that the church receives this revelation to allow the power of God to be manifest there. That is our motivation.
